Vyakula Intelligence exists because the people who buy, move and finance food in Uganda are making large decisions on thin information. Prices travel by word of mouth, quality is assessed on arrival, and by the time a shortage is obvious it has already been paid for.
We collect prices where they are actually set — in village and district markets, from traders and farmers — and we check them before anyone sees them. That last part is the whole product. Data that has not been verified is not published.
Field agents collect
Agents work assigned markets on a regular cycle, recording buying and selling prices, volumes, grade and conditions on the ground — from a phone, offline where there is no signal.
Every reading is attributable
A price is tied to the agent, the market and the moment it was taken. Nothing arrives anonymously.
Outliers are flagged automatically
Readings that disagree with nearby markets, with the same market last week, or with the expected range are held back for a human to look at.
A coordinator approves before publication
Only approved readings reach the maps, dashboards and exports that customers use.
